Garegin Ashotovich Tosunian is  Academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Honored Worker of Science of the Russian Federation, Professor, Doctor of Law, PhD in Physics and Mathematics.

 

Background:

1991-2002 — Vice-President, since 1994 First Vice-President of the Association of Russian Banks on a voluntary basis

1997- to date — Head of the Financial and Banking Law Sector of the Institute of State and Law of the RAS

1997- to date — Chair of the Department of Banking Law and Financial and Legal Disciplines of the Russian Presidential Academy of National Economy and Public Administration

1998-1999 — worked in the Office of the Government of the Russian Federation as an Adviser to the Chairman of the Government of the Russian Federation E.M. Primakov

2002 - to date — President of the Association of Russian Banks (ARB)

2004 - to date — Adviser to the Chairman of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation

2010 — was awarded with the title “Honored Worker of Science of the Russian Federation” by RF Presidential Decree

2010 — one of the initiators of the Institute of the Financial Ombudsman, created in Russia for the first time

2011 — was elected Corresponding Member of the Russian Academy of Sciences

Chairman of the Council of the Moscow Banking Union (since 2002)

Chairman of the All-Russian Council of Regional Banking Associations (since 2002)

Vice-President of the Free Economic Society of Russia (since 2010)

Vice-President of the International Management Academy (since 2011)

 

Mr. Tosunyan holds the memberships of:

  • Doctorate Council of the Institute State and Law of the RAS
  • Editorial Board of the journal “Banking Law”
  • Deputy Chair of the Supervisory Board of “National Banking Journal”

 

Mr. Tosunyan is the author of more than 270 articles, 50 books and monographs.
