Prof. Dr. Bernd Holznagel, LL.M., Dipl. - Soz.
Bernd Holznagel is the Director of the Institute for Information, Telecommunications and Media Law at the University of Muenster, Germany, where he is a professor for Constitutional Law, Administrative Law, European Law and Administrative Science since 1997.
He studied law and sociology in Berlin and Montreal, Canada (McGill University). He received his Ph.D. at the University of Hamburg (1990). His habilitation (“Broadcasting Law in Europe. The Path to a Common Law in the European Broadcasting System”) won a special award issued by the European Group of Public Law during its Spetses Reunion in 1996.
Holznagel is chairman of the Advisory Council of the Bundesnetzagentur (Federal Network Agency for Electricity, Gas, Telecommunications, Post and Railway) and of the Scientific Advisory Board of WIK (Wissenschaftliches Institut für Infrastruktur und Kommunikationsdienste der Bundesrepublik Deutschland/German Institute for Infrastructure and Communication Services).
His main research areas are the regulation of platforms and algorithms, data protection, telecommunications, media and internet law.
